Cardinals Get Revenge in Morrisville With 6-2 Win

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.
–  Eric Satim netted two goals to help lead the Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team to a 6-2 win over the Morrisville State Mustangs.  Plattsburgh improves to 15-6-1 overall, 7-6-0 SUNYAC.  Morrisville falls to 9-10-1 on the year, 6-5-1 in conference play.

Morrisville grabbed an early lead with just 2:24 gone in the first period on a goal by Nick Kulas from Jaime Nelson and Taylor Vince.

Less than a minute later, the Cardinals answered back on an unassisted goal from Dylan Clarke.

Plattsburgh’s Kyle Kudroch and Eric Satim each tallied goals, giving the Cardinals a 3-1 lead after one period of play.

The Mustangs scored the lone goal in the second period, cutting the Plattsburgh lead to 3-2 on a Bobby Cass goal from James Jarvis.

The Cardinals broke the game open in the third period, scoring three unanswered goals.  Dan Sliasis netted his sixth of the year at 6:35 of the third.  Satim picked up his second of the night, a short-handed, empty-net goal with 37 seconds left in the game.  Kyle VanDermale rounded out the scoring on an unassisted goal with just one second left in the period.

Plattsburgh held a 40-18 edge in shots over Morrisville.  Plattsburgh goaltender Josh Leis made 16 stops and improved to 14-3-1.  Caylin Relkoff turned away 34 shots for the Mustangs.

The Cardinals continue conference play next weekend as they travel to Fredonia and Buffalo State for their final road trip of the regular season.
