Cardinals run past Geneseo by 22 points

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.--Four Plattsburgh State players scored in double digits, including Reggie Williams who came off the bench to fire in 11 points in 11 minutes, as the nationally 22nd-ranked Cardinals pounded visiting Geneseo, 73-51, in State University of New York Athletic Conference action on Friday at Memorial Hall. The Cardinals improve to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the SUNYAC, while the Blue Knights dip to 6-3 and 0-2 in the conference.

Plattsburgh led wire-to-wire and started the game on a 17-4 run. The Cardinals pressured the Knights on both ends of the court and built as much as a 27-point lead in the second half.

Plattsburgh's Steve Thomas led all scorers with 15 points, followed by Chris Ruiz with 13 and Carl Munnerlyn had 12. Thomas also had eight rebounds.

Ryan Riefenhauser paced Geneseo with 12 points and eight rebounds, and Abe Miller came off the bench to record a game-best 10 rebounds.

The 51 points is the lowest offensive output by a Plattsburgh opponent this season.
