PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.--Reserve Josh Bruno scored a career-high 24 points to lead all scorers and Errol Daniyan posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, but No. 22-ranked Plattsburgh State lost to No. 6 Middlebury College in a men's basketball Top 25 showdown at Memorial Hall on Tuesday. The visiting Panthers remain unbeaten at 8-0 while the Cardinals fall to 6-2 after the non-conference game between regional rivals.
Middlebury was led by Ryan Wholey with 24 points, followed by Ryan Sharry with 14, Jake Wolfin had 12 and Andrew Locke, 11. The Panthers used their size to outrebound the Cardinals 44 to 35, led by Sharry with 13 boards.
Bruno was perfect from the field on seven attempts, which included six beyond the 3-point arc. Carl Munnerlyn added 16 points and Steve Thomas had 14.
The teams traded streaks to begin the game. Middlebury went on a 9-2 run that was answered by Plattsburgh's own 9-0 stretch for an 11-9 lead. The score was tied 37 at halftime.
