PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.--Kayla Nason recorded a double-double and freshman Cat Darling came off the bench, but that wasn't enough to help save the Plattsburgh State volleyball team on Tuesday from a 25-11, 25-12, 25-12 loss at the hands of Clarkson in non-conference action at Memorial Hall. The Golden Knights remain unbeaten at 9-0 while the Cardinals fall to 1-7 on the season.

Clarkson All-American Sara Artus spiked a match-best 13 kills in 25 attack attempts with only two errors for a .440 hitting percentage. Rachel Simons added nine kills (.533) and Megan Mahon had seven.

Darling led the host Cardinals with five kills and she hit .444, followed by Abby Mell with four kills. Nason had 13 assists and 10 digs.

Clarkson's offense--directed by Lani Durio and Erika Chin with 20 and 10 assists, respectively--was very efficient, hitting .317 as a team while committing only 11 errors.

On the other side, Plattsburgh's offense could never get in a groove. The Cardinals made three more errors (20) than they had kills (17).

Clarkson never trailed in the match. In the first set, the Golden Knights won eight of the first nine points to cruise. After a 3-3 tie in the second set, the Knights used a key 9-0 run. Then in the final set, the visitors jumped out to leads of 5-0 and 12-4.
