PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Senior co-captain Stephanie Moberg scored three goals as part of a four-point afternoon to pace the top-ranked Plattsburgh State women's hockey team to a 6-1 victory Saturday against visiting Cortland in an Eastern College Athletic Conference West Division game. The Cardinals have won eight straight--and 10-0-1 in their last 11 starts--to improve to 17-1-1 overall and 14-0-1 in the ECAC West. The Red Dragons are now 4-15-1 and 3-10-1 in the league. BOXSCORE
Plattsburgh overpowered Cortland in all phases of the game besides the final score, holding a commanding 50 to 9 shots on goal advantage and 48 face-off wins in 65 draws.
The Cardinals led 2-1 after the first period on Moberg's first two goals of the day. Cortland tied it at 1 on Jeanna Dippel's first goal of the season on a feed from Chelsey Wright at the 7:03 mark.
Kate Fairfield made it 3-1 midway through the second period, and Plattsburgh got some breathing room with three goals in a 7-minute, 18-second span in the third. Megan DiJulio netted her team-best 18th, a power play goal, 5:05 into the final period.
Fairfield, Teal Gove and Brittany Meade joined Moberg--who appeared in her 99th game wearing a red and white uniform--with a multi-point outing.
