Cardinals Use Strong Third Period to Turn Back Morrisville

Net Three Goals in Final Stanza

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -  Plattsburgh State put an end to its first two-game men's hockey losing streak in three years on Saturday night with a 4-1 victory over visiting Morrisville State College before a crowd of 1,449 at the Stafford Ice Arena. Phil Farrow led the way with two goals and an assist as the No. 5 nationally ranked Cardinals improve to 14-4-4 overall, including 10-2-1 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference. The Mustangs fall to 6-14 and 3-9 in the SUNYAC.  BOXSCORE

With the game tied 1-1 after two periods, the Cardinals got the go-ahead goal at the 6:13 mark of the third on Farrow's fourth goal of the season. He intercepted a Morrisville clearing pass out of the defensive zone above the right face-off circle and wristed a shot over goalie Caylin Relkoff's left shoulder.

Dylan Clarke made it 3-1 with a power play goal just 1 minute and 7 seconds later, and Farrow scored his second of the game with 23 seconds left to ice it.

Defenseman Ryan Corry scored a power play goal, his second on the year, late in the first period for a 1-0 Plattsburgh lead before Alex Tillaart scored his first career goal 3 minutes into the second for Morrisville's lone tally.

Second Star of the Game Josh Leis had 34 saves, including all nine shot attempts during a Morrisville power play in the second period to preserve a 1-1 tie at the time.

Dan Sliasis finished with two assists for Plattsburgh.
