NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Despite being outshot 43-12, the Plattsburgh State women’s hockey team made the most of their opportunities, picking up a 4-2 win over the Norwich Cadets to improve to 6-0-0. The Cadets fall to 7-2-0.
Kylie Klassen gave the Cardinals an early 1-0 with a power-play goal at 3:25 of the first period. Monica Korzon followed with an unassisted goal at 10:10 to put Plattsburgh up by two at the end of the first period of play.
Senior co-captain Steph Moon provided the rest of the offense for the Cardinals, netting a short-handed goal at 14:30 of the second period and a power-play goal at 13:58 of the third period.
Defenseman Allison Era tallied two points, assisting on the first two Plattsburgh goals.
Mandy Mackrell provided the Cardinals with an outstanding performance in net, making 41 saves for her fifth win of the season.
Cindy Fortin and Kelly Fisk split time in net for the Cadets. Fortin only recorded one stop, while Fisk had seven saves and suffered the loss.
