Volleyball Concludes Season at Skidmore Invitational

Kristin Saheim, a graduate student, concluded her Plattsburgh volleyball career this weekend.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.--
The Plattsburgh State volleyball team ended the 2010 campaign on Saturday at the Skidmore Invitational with a pair of 3-0 hard-fought defeats at the hands of New Paltz, 25-12, 25-12, 25-23, and Union (N.Y.) 25-23, 25-19, 25-21. The Cardinals close with a 6-29 record.

"We fought back and forth today, but just couldn't finish. That's been the story all season long," Plattsburgh coach Dena O'Connell stated. "But we ended the season by playing hard so that's a positive sign going into next year." O'Connell also said that she was proud of the players for sticking together. 

Against the Hawks, Plattsburgh was led by Kayla Nason with 17 assists, Kristin Saheim with five kills and Amanda Wickers with 10 digs. Kayla Hoopes added four kills on offense. Defensively, Andrea Kalter and Chyresse had eight digs each and Abby Mell posted two blocks.

In making her final appearance in a Cardinals uniform, Saheim had four kills and four blocks versus the Dutchwomen. Wells had a team-best nine kills and nine digs. Kalter chipped in 10 digs and Nason contributed 24 assists.
