CANTON, N.Y.--Andrea Kalter recorded a team-high 19 digs and Theresa Lilly added 11 to go along with eight kills, but it wasn't enough as the Plattsburgh State volleyball team suffered a 25-16, 27-25, 25-16 setback Tuesday at Saint Lawrence in a non-conference battle among North Country opponents at Burkman Gymnasium. The Cardinals drop to 6-25 on the season while the Saints improve to 19-9.
Kalter's performance at the libero position set the tone tonight for a strong defensive effort by the Cardinals, who kept a lot of rallies in play. Chyresse Wells chipped in nine and Kayla Nason had seven.
Freshman Cat Darling had a solid outing with seven kills to help Lilly in the offense, which included 24 assists from Nason. Darling also turned aside four blocks, which tied her career high.
The host Saints were led by Liz Grogan who had 10 kills to pace all players and she hit .214. Marta Johann followed with nine kills and led all attackers with a .692 percentage. Setter Abigail Rose posted 31 assists and 16 digs, and Nyasha Miller had 22 digs.
