Volleyball Splits to Open Second Round of SUNYAC Pool Play

Cardinals sweep host Potsdam Bears

POTSDAM, N.Y.--
The SUNY Plattsburgh volleyball team split Friday during opening day of second round action in State University of New York Athletic Conference pool play hosted by Potsdam at Maxcy Hall. The Cardinals (6-22 overall, 1-5 SUNYAC) lost to Cortland 25-16, 25-14, 25-7 before rebounding with a sweep of their own against the host Bears, 26-24, 25-21, 25-18.

Theresa Lilly and Cat Darling led Plattsburgh against the Red Dragons with five and three kills, respectively. Lilly also had a team-high three digs.

Lilly also spiked a team-best seven kills, plus two blocks, versus Potsdam. Kristin Saheim added four kills and two blocks, and Kayla Nason recorded 21 assists to seek out the open hitters in a closely played match. She also had four digs and four service aces. Andrea Kalter contributed 12 digs.

"We played together. I'm proud of the way the girls came back to beat Potsdam after a tough match against Cortland," Plattsburgh coach Dena O'Connell said. "We came out and took care of business."
