CORTLAND, N.Y.--
Matt Hamilton scored the game-winning goal just 1 minute and 27 seconds into overtime to lift the Plattsburgh State men's soccer team to a thrilling 1-0 sudden-victory Saturday over host Cortland at Red Dragon Stadium. The Cardinals (8-2-1 overall, 2-2 SUNYAC) hand the Red Dragons (4-6-1) their first conference loss in three State University of New York Athletic Conference starts.

Mike Payne was credited with the assist when his initial shot was saved by Cortland reserve goalkeeper Niko Martinez-Reyes and then Hamilton capitalized on the rebound.

Plattsburgh dominated the first half by outshooting Cortland 8-0. Then the Red Dragons turned the tables in the second by a 9-4 margin. The Cardinals finished the game with advantages in shots (14-9) and corner kicks (5-3).

Andy Heighington made four saves to earn his seventh shutout of the season and 16th of his second-year career.
