Boxscore and Play-by-Play
FREDONIA, N.Y.--Matt Hamilton staked Plattsburgh State to a 1-0 lead in the first half, but the injury-riddled Cardinals couldn't sustain the momentum into the second during a 2-1 loss at Fredonia State in State University of New York Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Saturday. The Cardinals see their four-game win streak (all by shutouts) come to an end and fall to 11-3-1 overall and 5-3 in the SUNYAC. The Blue Devils improve to 7-8 on the year, but 5-2 in conference play.
Trailing 1-0 early in the second half, Fredonia got on the scoreboard in the 57th minute on a goal by Ryan O'Donnell. John Grabowski tacked on the eventual game-winner just eight minutes later.
Hamilton scored his fifth goal of the season, unassisted, in the 35th minute when he dribbled past a defender and shot past Fredonia goalkeeper Bobby McGinnis.
McGinnis finished with three saves while Plattsburgh counterpart Andy Heighington stopped four shots, giving up a goal for the first time in 418 minutes and 25 seconds.
