Fredonia Defeats Plattsburgh Men in Basketball

FREDONIA, N.Y. - Thirty-four seconds into the first half of the Plattsburgh State men's basketball game versus State University of New York Athletic Conference foe Fredonia, Steve Thomas netted a three-pointer to score the first points of the game and place the Cardinals ahead. It would be Plattsburgh's lone lead of the game, lasting 19 seconds before Brad Cooper followed up with a three of his own to tie it up for the Blue Devils. Fredonia would go on to win the contest 64-54.

With the loss, Plattsburgh drops to 7-4 overall, 2-2 in the SUNYAC. Meanwhile, Fredonia's victory raises it to 8-3 overall, 3-1 in conference play.

Carl Munnerlyn led the Cardinals from the bench with 14 points, while Steve Thomas recorded 12. Overall, Plattsburgh's bench outscored Fredonia's 26-16. Errol Daniyan topped both teams with nine rebounds and reached up for a game-high four blocks.

For the Blue Devils, Cooper sank 16 points, Julius Bryant made 14 and James Kane posted 13 on the scoreboard. Fredonia scored 23 points off turnovers, compared to Plattsburgh's seven.

Plattsburgh returns home on Friday, January 15, to take on SUNYAC opponent Cortland. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
