BUFFALO - The Plattsburgh State women's hockey team blanked host Buffalo State for the second day in a row, this time by a score of 2-0 on Saturday at the Bengal Ice Arena. The nationally No. 2-ranked Cardinals move to 15-1-1 overall, including 12-0-1 in the Eastern College Athletic Conference West Division. The Bengals fall to 8-10-1 and 5-7-1 in the ECAC-West after getting swept this weekend by a combined 12-0 score to Plattsburgh. BOXSCORE
Anne Loewen made 14 stops to chalk up her second shutout this season and the fourth of her career.
Stephanie Moberg scored her 12th goal with 5 minutes and 34 seconds remaining in the first period. Jordan Caldwell and Erica Pomponio were credited with the assists. After a scoreless second period by both teams, Plattsburgh added an insurance tally in the third off the stick of Brittany Meade on a feed from Moberg. The short-handed goal came with 8:48 left.
Alyssa Koniar of Buffalo State kept her team in the contest with 34 saves to receive Third Star of the Game honors.
Plattsburgh had a 36 to 14 shots on goal advantage.
