Cardinals Clobber Bengals on the Road

Steph Moon Nets Pair of Goals

BUFFALO - Steph Moon scored the first of her two goals just 1 minute and 10 seconds after the game's opening face-off to set the tone for a Plattsburgh State 10-0 whitewashing of host Buffalo State in an Eastern College Athletic Conference West Division women's hockey game at the Bengal Ice Arena on Friday. Moon also had two assists for a career-high four-point night as the No. 2-ranked Cardinals improve to 14-1-1 overall and 11-0-1 in the ECAC-West.  BOXSCORE

The 10 goals and margin of victory are both Plattsburgh season bests. The Cardinals held a 37-15 shots on goal advantage.

Leading 2-0 after the opening stanza, Plattsburgh blew the game wide open with a six-goal second period as the Cardinals outshot Buffalo State 21 to 1.

Mandy Mackrell made 15 stops to earn her third shutout of the season and sixth of her career.

Erika Shaubel (3 assists) and Megan DiJulio (2 goals-1 assist) also shined for the Cardinals, who are unbeaten in their last eight (7-0-1) games.
