ONEONTA, N.Y. - Host Oneonta State is the site of the first round of East Division pool play in the State University of New York Athletic Conference. Plattsburgh State lost to New Paltz in the opening match, 25-12, 25-17, 25-21. The Cardinals wrapped up Friday night's action with a heartbreaking 29-27, 20-25, 25-20, 14-25, 15-13 loss to Potsdam, falling to 7-9 overall and 0-2 in the SUNYAC.
Kaitlyn Bakker, Kristin Saheim and Abby Mell each had three kills and setter Susan Bodkin directed the Plattsburgh offense with 14 assists against the Hawks. On defense, Chelsea Varin and Saheim recorded 14 and 10 digs, respectively.
In the match versus the Bears, Bakker spiked a team-best nine kills and Saheim, eight. Bodkin posted 30 assists, 18 digs and four blocks. Both Saheim and Varin chipped in 16 digs.
