Helping the Plattsburgh State men’s basketball team earn its first SUNYAC championship since the 1970s during his senior year, Kris Gibbs-Smith left an indelible impact on the program.
The Rochester, N.Y., native garnered several plaudits during his senior season in 2005-06, including NABC East District All-Region, D3hoops.com All-East Region, All-ECAC and First-Team All-SUNYAC honors.
During his senior year, he averaged 18.2 points per game, and he scored 803 points during his two seasons with the Cardinals. Kris earned SUNYAC Tournament MVP honors in 2005-06 as well, averaging 19.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game during the tournament.

Where is he now:
Kris is currently a vice president of operations and infrastructure for a tech company, working on building rockets that go to space. He has lived in the Bay Area for the past eight years.
Kris cites his greatest athletic accomplishment after graduation as being able to play professional basketball in more than 10 countries. In his professional life, Kris lists his greatest accomplishment as building and selling a company to Google. That company started with 10 people, and it grew to a 250-person company in just over four years. He also is proud of graduating from college.
Favorite Plattsburgh State Sports Moment:
“My favorite moment was winning the conference title my senior year as the No. 6 seed.”
