Fitness Center

The mission of the Fitness Center is to implement, provide, and facilitate quality fitness related activities that assist in fostering an outstanding educational experience by enhancing the physical and mental well-being of its participants.

resistive weight equipment and a free weight area. A separate, 1,800 square foot Aerobics Studio is dedicated to group exercise class offerings. A 2,700 square foot Group Activity Room is home to SPINNING and cardio-kickboxing classes. The Climbing Wall offers 1,800 square feet of varied climbing terrain. The 1,200 square foot satellite facility in the Hood Hall dorm also accommodates on campus student members.

Individual Attention and Programs

The Fitness Center is a component of the Department of Sport and Wellness. It is managed by a full-time Director and Assistant Director, while the group exercise program is coordinated by a half-time group exercise specialist. The Fitness Center staff is comprised of student trainers, supervisors, aerobics, SPINNING and cardio-kickboxing instructors. They provide individual and group instruction and are available to develop and implement safe and effective personalized programs for members of the fitness center.

The Fitness Center is located on the lower level of Memorial Hall in the center of the SUNY Plattsburgh campus.

When College Is In Session

• Monday - Thursday: 7 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.
• Friday: 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
• Saturday: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
• Sunday: Noon - 9 p.m.

When College Is Not In Session

• Monday - Friday: 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.
• Saturday: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
• Closed Sundays and Legal Holidays

Fitness Center Membership and Dues Information

The SUNY Plattsburgh Fitness Center is a major hub of activity on campus and membership provides access to aerobic and strength training machines, climbing wall, classes and much more.

The Fitness Center is a pay-for-use program available to students, faculty, staff and alumni.

SIGN UP FOR MEMBERSHIP

Eligibility:
The Fitness Center is a pay-for-use program available to students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Students: the fee appears on your tuition bill prior to each class session as an optional fee. If you are a student and did not register on your tuition bill, you may still do so in person. You must be 17 years of age to participate.

Faculty and Staff: the fee can be paid through Banner or in person.
• Click the Faculty & Staff Registration link. Once there you must sign on Banner Web.
• Enter Faculty, Staff & Advisors Menu.
• Enter (Fall, Spring, or Summer) 2018 Fitness Center Membership.
• Check the box for payment and click "Enroll in the Fitness Center." (If you click to enroll and decide not to make payment at that time, the Student Accounts Office will bill you for the fee. If you did not intend to enroll, please contact the Fitness Center Director to clear the charge).

Alumni: must first obtain a proof of alumni status memo from the Alumni Affairs Office in Hawkins Hall (518-564-3090) and present it to register in person at the Student Accounts office:

Spousal or domestic partner (secondary member): charges are the same as for the primary member (student, faculty/staff or alumni). Spousal or domestic partner membership is contingent upon the current and continued membership of the primary member

To use the Fitness Center, each participant must purchase a membership or, on a limited basis, pay for a daily pass.

Membership is limited to SUNY Plattsburgh students, faculty/staff, alumni and the spouses or domestic partners of students, faculty/staff.

Membership fees are pro-rated at the mid-semester point (after Columbus break in the fall and after spring break in the spring).

Membership fees are payable at the SUNY Plattsburgh Student Accounts Office, located on the first floor of the Kehoe Administration Building. The Student Accounts Office is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 1 p.m. - 4:30 pm. A valid SUNY Plattsburgh Identification card must be presented with payment. Memberships are validated upon each use.

Registration forms are available at the Fitness Center Director's office - 120 Memorial Hall, and the Student Accounts Office in the Kehoe administration building.

Liabilities and Injuries:
Participants should be aware that there is a risk of personal injury due to the inherent nature of this activity. Each participant assumes the risk for any harm or injury. It is encourage that each individual have a physical examination prior to participation. All accidents or injuries should be reported immediately to the Fitness Center Staff.

Refunds:
The Fitness Center refunds membership fees in accordance with the College Tuition refund policy. Fees are 100% refundable within the first 5 days of the semester. Fees are 50% refundable from day 6 through the fourth week of the semester. Fees are not refundable after the fourth week of the semester. Requests for any refunding must be made in person to the Fitness Center Director.
