PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Plattsburgh State will serve as the host institution for the 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championships which are scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.
The no. 1-overall seed in the tournament, the Cardinals secured their right to host by defeating the University of St. Thomas (Minn.), 4-1.
Plattsburgh State, Norwich University, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Elmira College will begin play for the title of national champion on Friday in the semifinal round.
Plattsburgh State (24-2-2) will face off against Norwich University (22-4-3) for the third time this year at 3:30 p.m. in the first semifinal game. The first meeting ended in a 1-1 (OT) draw in Northfield, Vt. but the two teams meet again in Plattsburgh, N.Y. where the Cardinals were victorious, 5-0.
The second semifinal matchup will showcase UW-River Falls (25-3-1) and Elmira College (25-2-1) at 7 p.m.
The winners of the two semifinal games will clash on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the national championship game. The teams who do not advance to the championship round will play for third place at 3:30 p.m.
Tickets are scheduled to go on sale at 2 p.m. each day at the Plattsburgh State Field House box office and are separate for each day of the tournament. Prices are $15 for adults and $10 dollars for college students with ID and children 18 and under each day. Friday's ticket holders will get the chance to see both semifinal games while Saturday's will be admitted to the third-place and national championship games.
