CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sam Foley of the Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team has been named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) goalie of the week for the week ending Nov. 25.
On Saturday, the Woodbury, Minn. native was called upon to make his second career start against No. 11 St. Thomas in the consolation game of the 2012 PrimeLink Great Northern ShootOut. Foley, who is in his third year with the Cardinals, stopped all 15 shots he faced to earn his first collegiate win and shutout. Plattsburgh State defeated the Tommies, 2-0, to earn the split on the weekend after falling to Middlebury, the previous night.
Plattsburgh State returns to conference play this weekend on the road at Cortland and Oswego. The Cardinals and Red Dragons will face-off on Friday before the weekend wraps up with a Saturday showdown between Plattsburgh and Oswego. Both SUNYAC games are set for 7 p.m.
